Just as important as asset division is debt allocation in a divorce. In most instances, debts for cars, mortgages, credit cards and loans are divided evenly among the spouses. However, pre-marital debts, debts deliberately kept hidden, and debts attributable to waste can be attributed to the responsible spouse.
